OLD SCOTCH FOOTBALL CLUB'S RACEHORSE The Old Scotch Football Club will take a very keen interest in the progress of the new star to its racing stables. In 2006, Rob & Liz Dixon purchased a strapping filly by the boom sire Delago Brom out of a Flying Spur mare. This filly has since been named: Butzie Lucas Butzin had a real passion for racing and was epitomized by his patronage at The OSCFC end of Season trips to Cox's Plate Day in Melbourne . In 2005 Lucas was with the scotch boys when the mare Galvanized ran second by a lip on Cox's Plate day. Butzie cherished that moment more so than the owners of the horse and spoke of one day owning a horse that would give him the same joy. In honour of Lucas, Butzie will be representing the OSCFC each time she graces the track. She will carry the club colours and will be trained by John Blacker at Longford In the event she races with half the passion, endeavour and natural ability of her name sake, and wins some prizemoney, a percentage of her stakes cheques will go towards the Football club. We ask all players and friends of Lucus to follow the progress of her as though we have some sort of ownership in her and " let's see where this journey takes us?" Butzie raced on Boxing day and won a Class 2 over 1400 meters. She ran out of her Class having only won 1 race prior to this, however she showed all the fighting qualities of her name sake to beat the older horses. Her Race record is now 6 Starts for 2 Wins, 2 Seconds and a 4 th & 6 th . Butzie is now being prepared for the 3 Year Old Fillies races which commence with the 1000 Guineas in Hobart on 13 th Jan 2008, followed by the Strutt Stakes and Tasmanian Oaks. Robert Dixon Note: |
